The sudden hull widening just forward of the #1 turret to accommodate the torpedo SPS also gave it a unique spray formation that made refueling destroyers quite challenging, at least until they found a workaround (I believe the moved the fueling station aft). The Iowa's bow is notoriously fine, which means a lack of forward buoyancy that causes her to dig into waves.
