I'm playing with Assembly Xenoplague on my first play of this game.

AOE regeneration and resurrection in a tier 3 unit with decent range and melee capability. Plague Lords may or may not be worth the trouble to evolve troops that far, but if the player has persevered enough to get them in numbers the game is more or less won from a military standpoint. Even then, probably not worth cultivating them since there's another tech which forcibly evolves them to Destroyer.ĭestroyers are acceptable, although they're not obtained for free like Pustules and have to be managed carefully to get Plague Lords. Pustules are cheap cannon fodder and completely expendable until the tech unlocking their upgrade is unlocked. Make sure you know the basics of how the plague works - you need to research the appropriate tech along the secret tech tree to even have a chance of spawning/evolving the free xenoplague units, and you'll want to pay more attention than usual to what the ops can offer you to help get more units. In olden days there was an unholy synergy between the two it's lessened now but still it works because again of the bio damage from an early assembly mod turns melee damage to bio, and some of the later tier units like the disassembler can also have long ranged aoe bio attacks. If you are getting super lazy there is an op that infects all the units in their stack at which point you could just let the computer auto resolve it assuming they would win with it.Īnother natural pairing is with the assembly race. You want fine control of stuff like the grenades and ops being lazy and letting the computer auto resolve might result in ultimate victory but you are probably just hurting yourself competitively by doing so. You'll want to fight as many battles as you can see be actively looking for camps to kill. You probably want to get your hands dirty doing manual battles to make sure you infect a lot of units but also don't lose too many. Xenoplague is more dependent on getting engaged in battles than any other tech by a mile because of the way infection/evolution works.

I would suggest first trying the Amazon race with it - the pairing is natural because the amazons basic unit "huntress" does biological damage, and the xenoplague debuff subtracts biological defenses - your huntresses will be dealing more damage to debuffed units in other words.
